The flexibility to change with the seasons, running like a traditional Aga during the winter months, a warm kitchen or just the hobs in summer months, keeping the kitchen cooler whilst providing great energy saving. With short warm up times, especially from background heat setting, the ElectricKit gives you options at short notice.

Low Running Costs

No servicing cost, improved insulation and more efficient heat placement / heat source leading to significant cost savings in comparison to alternative fuels and similar to the latest Aga models

Each ElectricKit Aga and family will have different running costs depending on the kitchen is size / open plan design and how the Aga is used. The developers of the ElectricKit carried out yearlong test for a family of 2 working adults (away during the day) and published usage of 2064KW for the year. The cost of that would change depending on the energy supplier but at 28p/kw it works out at £577.92 for the year / £11.12 per week. The two hot plates were turned on as and when required. A timer was used to automatically turn the ElectricKit aga on and off using the times 6.00-9.00am / 4.00 – 9.30pm

Their usage for a 2 oven ElectricKit was:

Autumn (3month) timed operation 06.00 – 09.00 / 16.00-21.30 , 454kwh

Winter (3 month), oven on 24hrs per day oven temp 220, 708kwh

Spring (3 month), timed operation06.00- 09.00 / 16.00-21.30, 615kwh

Summer (3 months), manual operation, turned on when needed, 278kwh

2 Oven models run approximately £11.15 per week. However, if run as room heat, traditional aga (winter setting on 24hrs) this will rise significantly £21 per week depending on room size. 4 Oven models run approximately £17.80 per week if run as room heat, traditional aga (winter setting on 24hrs) this will rise significantly £29.50 per week depending on room size.

Eco-Friendly

Looking to reduce your reliance on Fossil fuels, then the ElectricKit helps, with electricity a cleaner source of energy, some suppliers focusing on green electricity or even utilise your solar panels.

Looking to remove the ugly oil tank from your property and move away from oil.

Reducing your home energy consumption through improve efficiency.

How does it work?

Heating element are place in between your Roast and Simmering Oven (drawing 1.8kw) and a further 2 elements (drawing 1.4kw each) and integrated into the boiling and simmering plates.

The Aga is controlled via the control panel. Allowing you to manually choose a temperature (via digital display) for the Roasting Oven. This heat then dissipates down to the simmering oven (top simmering oven is like a grill), allowing the oven to reach a temperature of around 70c less than the Roasting Oven. Using this easy controllable method, you can create a baking oven 2 & 4 oven models by raising the roasting oven temperature to a high setting until the bottom oven reaches baking temperature. Rather moving your cooking around the different ovens as with a traditional AGA.

The two hotplates are independent of each other, either both boiling or simmering. Each controlled by a dial ranging from 1 – 8. You can leave the hotplates on (no higher than 4), to provide warmth to the room, pre-heated, ready for a boiling plate at a turn of the dial. The ovens can also be set and left on 24/7 to provide additional room warmth and cooking convenience.

From cold, the hotplates will reach full power in 30 minutes and oven will reach 180c in 1hr 30 mins. The two hotplates are on their own 13amp supply, and the ovens are on another 13amps supply. Providing the ElectricKit conversion the flexibility and efficiency.

Conversion Process

Due to the positioning of the internal electrical components, your aga will need to be fully rebuilt to carry out this conversion. All the vermiculite is made redundant and therefore removed from the cooker. The cast iron ashpit and outer barrel are no longer be required and removed from the aga. The top oven is removed and prepared for the ElectricKit conversion. The heating elements are placed between the ovens and then ceramic fibre insulation blankets is wrapped around the ovens to retain the heat. The electrics are installed and connected, along with the control panel. The two hotplates are swopped with specially made new hotplates with heating element incorporated inside. The ElectricKit conversion is complete and aga is re-assembled.

Electric Supply

In total 2 x 13 amp fused switched spurs are required for the 2 & 4 oven ElectricKit models. Alternatively, a split 30-amp supply can be used. We require this supply to be fitted by your electrician – to be installed to the left or right of the Aga (not behind), then we can connect your converted Aga to this supply.

Flue Option
